Guide Review – Epson WorkForce 635 All-in-One Printer

Small business owners may like the Epson WorkForce 635 printer first because it has many whistles and bells which are very useful. Those who need a home printer will also like its family-friendly features. Compared to its previous generation, the Epson WorkForce 610, it is about $80 more expensive. But you will get what you pay for and will satisfy with the Epson WorkForce 635.

There are a lot of useful business features. Wi-Fi networking ( 802.11n ) is built in. You can set up the wireless very easily and quickly and the connection will stay strong. This Epson printer allows you to input your SSID as well as other information needed via your computer. This is more convenient than using the control panel buttons. Besides, high-speed faxing allows you to fax one page in just 3 seconds. PC Fax allows you to fax directly through your computer. The ink cartridges which have extra-high capacity can provide more printing per tank. The ADF can store 30 sheets of papers. Unfortunately, there is just one paper input tray, so if you need to frequently print photos, you will have to resize the tray when you want to add photo papers.

If printing at draft quality is acceptable for you, you will find the WorkForce 635 very fast. Your first page will come out after 9 seconds. Each subsequent page will take less than 5s. Your text will look fine. However, your color graphics may be faint or washed out if printing at this speed. Switching to normal quality, when you print a Word document which has four pages, the 1st page will come out in about 16s. Each of the following will take about 11s. Larger PDF file will have similar times. The first page will take just one or two seconds longer.

You may like using the duplexer when the Epson WorkForce 635 printer interface advises you to reduce the ink density. So, the ink will not sink into pages as it usually happens when we print duplex. You will have to play with this printer’s settings, though – too much reduction as well as quality suffers. There will be little or even no bleed into the cheapest paper, and fonts can be sharp and clear at all printing levels.

When it comes to photo printing, it takes about 1:14 to finish printing a 4 x 6 photo. This is the average speed which is acceptable. Your photos will look great with realistic colors and sharp images.

There is just one point: the drivers on the included CD are not the latest. So after setting up, you have to download the updated drivers. This is time consuming because it’s quite slow. Besides, there are also some feedbacks about jamming. But overall, the Workforce 635 is still a good printer.

  • It offers ink cartridges with extra-high capacity
  • It has built-in wired or wireless networking (Wi-Fi n)
  • Print quality is very good. Photo print quality is excellent.
  • There is an automatic document feeder
  • There is a built-in duplexer

  • It does not have multiple input paper trays
  • The drivers on the included CD are out of date
