Review for Epson WorkForce Pro WF-4630 All-in-One Printer

Our main subject today is the WorkForce Pro WF-4630 with the price of $299.99. This printer and its brother, which is also a high-volume AIO for small offices and workgroups, the $399.99 WF-4640 can be the right choices if you are looking for print quality, speed, cost per page. As you know, Epson is a well-known manufacturer of printers with a wide range of printer types. They are exceptionally famous for home-based models and small-office models (which are optimized for business use and can print, copy, scan and fax). WF-4630 is one of the best among the outstanding Epson’s WorkForce line which are office-ready multifunctional ones (also called AIOs – all-in-ones).

The main difference between WF-4630 and WF-4640 is that the later offers you a second paper drawer which can store up to 500 sheets. In fact, if you want, you can go to Epson’s online store to purchase that additional drawer for your WF-4630. Many other outlets also sell it, too. But in this case, buying a WF-4640 seems to be a better choice because you can save up to $150 (the extra drawer itself costs about $249.99).

The Epson WF-4630 uses the new printhead technology – PrecisionCore. This is a modern technology which Epson released in June 2014. In comparison to normal inkjet printheads, this is cheaper and faster. Printers using PrecisionCore technology can have printheads which are configured with 2 or 4 chips. These chips are PrecisionCore ink-nozzle and are densely populated. Models which have 4 chips (like WF-4630) are faster than those which just have 2 (like the WorkForce WF-3640 All-in-One Printer – $199.99). You can read more about this in the article “Alternative Printhead Inkjet Printers

Features and Design

This WF-4630 is not very big but it may be a bit hard for you to place it on average desktops. For your information, here are some measurements: 18.1″ across, 25.8″ front-back, 15.1″ high, 31.3 pound weigh. But you will like it when you know it is loaded with features which are very productive and convenient. PC-free operation is one of those useful features this WF-4640 can offer you. With this feature, you can print or scan from many kinds of memory cards (USB drives, for example) using the touch screen (3.5″, color screen).

Some other useful mobile printing features this printer offers you are: Google’s Cloud Print, Apple’s AirPrint, and Wi-fi Direct. Epson Connect utilities also give you great help by allowing you to print via email or print directly from your mobile devices. It includes: iPrint Mobile, Email Print, Remote Print. NFC (also known as Near-field communications) is the only feature that is not supported.

This Epson offers you a spacious input drawer which can store up to 250 sheets. Moreover, on the back you can find an override tray in which you can put up to 80 sheets of printing envelopes as well as other kinds of specialty pages. So, WF-4630 offers you 2 input sources. You have no need to pause your printer to reconfigure and unload. This is what makes this Epson convenient! In addition, you can save your time with this printer’s auto-duplexing document feeder. 35 pages of two-sided originals can be scanned, faxed or copied just in a short time. You don’t have to manually flip them over or learn how to manually reposition the 1-sided pages as well as the originals back into this printer.

Cost Per Page

CPP – cost per page is the average cost of printing per page. This WF-4630 is quite competitive with its CPP of 1.6 cents – monochrome prints and 8.2 cents – color prints, even when you are using the highest-yield ink cartridges of Epson. So, this cost is lower than many other inkjet AIOs, high-volume ones as well as some midrange laser-class and entry-level machines.

There are not many printers which have lower Cost per Page (and there may be no printers in this $299.99 price range, you know). A HP’s Officejet X printer which uses PageWide – another technology of inkjet printhead, can offer you lower cost per page ( about 1.3 cents – black and white prints and around 6.1 cents – color prints), but this machine’s price is far more expensive than our Epson WF-4630. One more thing, please remember to choose the printer that meets your printing need. It is very important because it can save you a lot of money. Bottom Line

If you are looking for a multifunctional printer which is fast, feature-rich, with excellent print quality, this Epson WF-4630 is one of the best choices. This WorkForce Pro will satisfy you with a lot of convenience and productivity features. Users who need to print in large number may like it because not only it has outstanding low CPPs but also it is a high-volume printer.
